Many astronomers consider a Jaeger lens the best choice for a telescope objective because of the sharp images they provide.
The following notes are from the A. Jaeger's catalog:

"Note A" Telescope objectives of top-notch quality such as demanded of astronomical telescope objectives. They can be used with ¼" focal length eyepieces in order to obtain maximum power. In other words, a lens of 15" focal length can be used up to 60 power and a 24½" focal length can be used up to 98 power.

"Note B" High resolution lens. Resolves 4 seconds or better.
