The following is from Woody Montier who built a 6" refractor scope using a 6" air-spaced achromat from SRO. First light report can be found at: www.tbd.com
"A retired aeronautical engineer who does measurements on positions and
separations
of double stars as a hobby for the US Naval Observatory told me that any
telescope
that will split Antares is world class. Reason being that the double star
is separated
by 1.3 arc seconds, and the red half of the Antares pair is one of the
brightest stars.
The 6 magnitudes dimmer blue star is difficult to see as it is in or close
to the first
diffraction ring of the brighter red star. The 6 inch Jaegers shows a red
disc and
a dimmer, smaller blue disc on nights of good seeing, at magnifications as
low as 100X. At 250X on good nights, I see two perfect round discs with no
glare - it's a beautiful and satisfying sight!"
